Karate New Zealand awards 9th Dans for exceptional life time achievement

On 17th June at a formal ceremony at the Rydges Hotel in Auckland, Karate New Zealand awarded Jack Sims, Len Monk, Hiroshi Fujimoto and Dennis May with the rank of 9th Dan in recognition of their exceptional life time achievement in the development of Karate in New Zealand. In presenting the four recipients with their 9th Dan certificates, KNZ President Leo Donnelly noted that the Executive Board and Dan Grade Council of Karate New Zealand had considered the achievements of all four candidates carefully. Their Karate skills and vast experience and knowledge are unquestioned. Equally their ongoing outstanding commitment and contribution to the development of of Karate in New Zealand over the last 45 years and passion for the art has been evidenced at every level of karate endeavour as practitioners, teachers, officials and administrators. Their Karate CVs truly reflect a lifetime of achievement. Jack Sims, Len Monk, Hiroshi Fujimoto and Dennis May are New Zealand Karate's living treasures and we honour them and keep them safe.
