Very humbled this evening to be part of New Zealand Karate History. Honoring our Life members and founder Kancho Jack Sims as a life member of Karate New Zealand, and founder and first President of Karate New Zealand.

Also Shihan Len Monk, Shihan David Bennett and Sensei Beaty Bennett all awarded Life Membership of Karate NZ.

There was also special recognition of Sensei Duane Monk as National Coach, and WKF Referees - Grant Holland, Johnny Ling, Dhammika Wado and Dave Harris. And for a Special Award for Services to Karate New Zealand - Lexie Matheson, and special thanks to Cushla Matheson, and Brittany-brooks Parsons in making this special event happen.

Thank you to AUT for their support and hosting the event for Karate New Zealand at AUT Tower.

Historic night for KNZ and Sensei Jack Sims. My role as President of Karate NZ is to honor those that came before us and support all our members now.

Dennis May
President of Karate New Zealand
