Teams line up

The first Auckland Region Karate Tournament for 2017 was held on the 12th March 2017.

This one was something different - a Round Robin event with lots of great matches for everyone and for a low entry fee. Great value and lots of competition to start the year off!

We had about 480 matches to complete in just 8 hours. Wow - what a huge karate day at the Auckland Classic!  We had a lot of positive responses about the format and competitors loved the mat time that they got, with getting at least four rounds each. They found that they got better with each round.

I have to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the all the volunteers to make a day like this possible:

  • Murray Simpson for organising this massive event
  • The Referees and Judges with their heavy work load (We need more judges and referees to keep up with the growth in our tournaments - six mats were used today!)
  • To all the people who set up and packed up all the mats, tables and equipment
  • To the parents and senior competitors who manned the tables and helped with the marshalling and judging
  • Most of all thank you to all the competitors and coaches and their support team (Mum and Dads) who made this a great day

Looking forward to seeing you at the next event!
